Talk Nerdy To Me

My first real kid crush was on David Bowie...........I'll just leave that and let you draw your own conclusions. Let's just say it was during his Ziggy Stardust days. I do love an outfit. Anyhoo, somewhere around 1974 I developed a rather substantial obsession with John Dean. Um, yes, you remember, John Dean of Watergate fame. Now HE was cute! What a dreamboat! And a turncoat some would say. Not only was he dreamy but he had the added attraction of appealing to my sense of truth and justice. Then, after several small dalliances with Peter Framton, several members of Earth wind and Fire, and all members of Yes except Rick Wakeman, I attended my first concert; QUEEN. After that it was Freddie Mercury (sexual preferences be damned!) all the way. That is until I entered the fitness industry and attended a workshop by some guy named Len Kravitz. I found my palms getting sweaty when he talked about V02 Max, and felt all weak in the knees every time he described EPOC. Who knew? Especially considering I had always, up to then been a solid D student in all things math and science. I developed a nerdy crush on Mr. Kravitz at his first workshop in 1989, and after reading his latest article on exercise after burn I must say he's still got it. As many of you know, I am a big fan of interval training, I am also a big fan of science and peer reviewed studies. I do not suffer fads, nor do I believe that just because you do 8 thousand reps of something it "works." As educated consumers of health and fitness programs you should always ask, why. Why does this or that work? “Because it does” is not an acceptable answer. So! With that, let me introduce you to a short article by Len Kravitz about the benefits of interval training as it relates to caloric after burn, and let it inspire you to work a little harder in your next workout. Here’s the link.
